The 1.3 release has been delayed for the following reasons:
  • Cab Designer 2.0 has been scraped
  • The SSD in my main computer has died. All work will be done on an Intel Atom-Based Surface 3 until further notice.
Unfortunately work cannot continue on this project until I can replace the SSD in my main computer. I tried working on the Surface 3 but the experience of software development on an Intel Atom CPU makes me want to put forks in my eyes!

Sorry to hear about the SSD failure!

At least no data was lost! Unfortunately, Sandisk may give me a hard time sending in the SSD for RMA because I am not the original owner. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have purchased a $45 2 TB hard drive on eBay so that I can still use the computer. It will be slower than the old SSD but it will be usable. It should be here in a few days. I'll restore data from a system image backup and work will resume as normal.

That's great to hear. It's amazing how cheap hard drives are now!

I'm surprised that the performance is actually decent. Even though it is only a 7200 RPM SCSI drive it still usable. The NVMe SSD I had before made the operating system boot much faster and handle multitasking better but when it comes to general usage the difference isn't noticeable.

Here is a preview of Cab Designer 3.0. I'm still trying to figure out the user interface design.

The options to create multiple doors have been added. Now you have up to four doors per elevator! You can even choose each door type and texture. The current door options are center open and center open two-speed. More options will be added at a later time. Also up to eight panels can be created for a single elevator.

The following pictures show the new options for more specific panel placement. Panels can now be placed on both sides of the doors or only on the left or right. Version 1.3 shall be released tomorrow with these new features.
