Skyscraper 2.0 Alpha 10 released
« on: December 19, 2016, 04:27:31 PM »
Alpha 10 has been released.  This major release includes the extensive work of the development builds, and has a lot of new features and bugfixes.

Changes since the last build:
-disable "contains" polygon check, due to issues (caused some Beno buildings to have wall issues)

Excerpts from the readme file:

Major changes since the Alpha 9 release:
------------------------------------

Ogre 1.9 is now used instead of 1.8.1, which Alpha 9 used.  Model mesh files need to be upgraded to the newer format to prevent warning messages on startup - they'll still work fine though.

Skyscraper now supports running multiple buildings simultaneously via the new Engine Contexts feature.  This makes the development of cities possible.

Sky parameters can now be controlled via the Sky Control dialog.

Virtual people are supported, to simulate elevator traffic.

A new sound system has been added, which is more efficient than the previous one.

A new Dynamic Meshes system has been added, which greatly improves the rendering efficiency of the simulator.

See the forum and changelog for more information on the new changes and features.

Command line options are now supported.

Double-decker elevators (really multi-deck elevators) are now supported.

Elevators now support hoistway access functions.

Working revolving doors are supported.

Modified keys:
-------
Number keys switch between engines, when multiple buildings are loaded.
-------

New commands/parameters:
ListVisibleMeshes
CreatewallObject
AddPolygon
AddExternalDoor
ChimeOnArrival
new Buildings and Car sections
Position
Bounds
ShowLoadedSounds
ShowPlayingSounds

New elevator actions:
PeakOff
StopDoors
SensorReset

New call button actions:
Off
Up
Down
FireOff
FireOn
FireBypass

Congratulations on another release!  I've been wanting to say for the past while now, all of the things that were done to the simulator since Alpha 9 and all the things can be done with the simulator now is absolutely mind-boggling.  I feel like now not only can you make a building with as much detail as you want, but can also make giant cities if you have the time and effort to make one (with user defined functions and models you can definitely speed things up).  I am really hoping I can push the limits of the simulator with Andersville.  Seeing Skyscraper load up and render 9 different buildings in a map or loading up a landscape that is OVER 100 MILES across with MILLIONS of terrain tiles within a minute on a general use laptop and easily render it at 40 FPS just blows my mind.  A few years ago I've had a lull period in interest, but these builds brought me back.   Keep up the good work and I'll be looking forward to seeing what this simulator can do in Alpha 11 or whatever is next.
Always pushing Skyscraper to it's limits!

Also on random activity how do you make it spawn more than 47 people at one time without having to repeatedly make more people over and over?

Any way the indicator offset could be changed so the number changes to the destination floor upon deceleration like it did in Skyscrapersim Beno edition?
